Winter skincare

Hi Ladies!

Has it got colder where you are living?

The last couple of days have got really cold in London so I'm preparing for my winter skin routine as my skin gets really dry. Last winter I had really bad eczema but this year it has not come up yet, luckily.

Do you do anything different in terms of your skincare routine in Winter?

Do you have any specific products that you only use at this time of year?

Do you see any differences in your skin when the weather gets colder or does it stay the same?

Do you have any winter skincare tips or tricks that you could share?

Have you asked for any skincare products for Christmas? If so, what?

xx

@Bex it has been up and down here in Georgia! We’ve joked that we got all four seasons in one week last week. My mom in Germany once boasted that it was warmer there!😂

I definitely have to amp up the moisturizing during winter. I don’t remember having to wear as much lotion during the winters growing up in Chicago, but in Atlanta we have to wear some lotion or moisturizer once, preferably twice a day.

I also try not to wash my face in water that’s too hot because that can be drying, and I even take more skin supplements like silica and vitamin A and use any creams with collagen and SPF to keep it springy.

Also, as I always advocate, drinking more water! I will often take it in the form of tea to keep warm.

@Bex It is cold here! I am so over winter already! Dry skin, cracked lips, no fun at all!  The only thing I do differently in the winter is to use more lotion, hand lotion more often, lip care, etc..........

@Bex I don’t do anything different with my face. But my arms and legs get so dry and flaky it is almost embarrassing! So I keep up with my manicures and pedicures because they use the warm wax which tends to soften my skin for some time. I also go through a lot of moisturizer! We have a very dry climate here and it can get cold.

Hi @Bex hope you're keeping warm in the cold London weather! Glad your eczema hasn't flared up this year.

I dont really change up my products during the winter, I only use more a bit more of what I use all year.  I make sure to moisturize more, mainly the hand and feet need it and I notice I'm using my lipbalm more regularly.  YGS products keep your skin healthy and cared throughout all seasons.

@MondoTeeno That is a good tip about not having the water too hot! I just find that so hard to do in the winter because the warm water feels so nice! Do you use a different moisturiser, or the same one, but just more of it?

@Bex same, it’s hard to avoid wanting the hottest water possible.

I usually just use the same moisturizer as I have been using but more often. And if I see something with more benefits such as more hydrating formulas or added vitamins or oils, I’ll definitely try it out!

Thanks @chellester 😊 Do you use any extra products at all? Or the same ones, just more frequently?

@Bex my skin care routine stays the same all year around with the same moisturizer, YGS Concentrate. YGS works well for my skin in any season.

I’m continue using my Balance Skin Concentrate and a multivitamin infusion oil from Murad that im literally obsessed. No dry skin but even i’m freezing trying hard to don’t use hot water . And of course my YGS lip balm ( using it more than usual in this crazy Mississippi weather)

@Bex It has been colder here in Ohio too and I do notice that my skin is getting more dry and especially my lips and my hands get very dry. For my lips I use the YGS lip balm and at night Eucerin Aquaphor. For my hands I use O' Keeffle Working hands cream right before I go to sleep and luckily that will help with the dry hands. For my skin I use the YGS products. No need to change that because it works for my skin.

Hello ladies so sad your wheathering the weather, keep warm and continue with your beauty regimen. Here on the island,  I keep it to a minimal due to the heat but I’ll send you all some 🌞 to warm your days 🌹

@Bex I really keep the same routine but pay more attention to my lips.  I always have to have a balm with me

@Bex Hello,my love! I’ll say this,”although here in NYC,we have the luxury to experience all 4 seasons,I see winter here as a kitty cat rather than a lion which most people profess to by complaining about it. “It’s winter for goodness sake;it’s supposed to be cold! 😋 Especially when I think of other states and countries that have it much much worse. My routine for wintertime is no different when you have normal skin. I use a moisturizer with SPF all year round.(Yet very lightly) ...We are born with everything we need to function) Although as I’m aging,I’m utilizing more anti-aging serums because I am noticing a few fine lines around the eyes. And we can’t have that. You know Bex,”sometimes a little bit of anything is too much”. I say this because when we start any routine,we are trying to adapt to to something that is not normal, nor necessary. Then as we continue this routine, little do we realize,we are in fact altering our whole chemistry. Therefore we must continue our routine in order to maintain that which we altered. I don’t know if I explained that correctly but I think you girls can relate to the theory of “my”relativity. 😂 Happy Holiday,Bex. And thank you once again for accommodating us with this venue.

My skin gets very dry during the winter, so I use less hot, hot water and extra moisturizer!

@Bex No extra products, just more of the usual!  Sometimes I need to get lotion for extra dry skin.

Sagittarius I’m a native NewYork and though I was born on the island I love New York especially this time of year it’s funny cause when anyone says to me “it’s so hot “ I say Hello we do live on a tropical island it’s suppose to get hot , well you just reminded me. There is nothing like a Christmas in the City. We have our own traditions which are lovely, but  nothing beats “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire ,and Jack Frost nibbling at your nose enjoy my friends 🌹

@Bex My skin gets dry during the winter months.😊  I use more moisturizer.

@Bex I don’t change my routine too much as the weather here is somewhat consistent around here.  On days I feel like my skin is dry, I will grab a sheet mask, but I do this year round.

@Bex funnily enough I posted a similar topic a few weeks back, but yes, Winter does need a few tweaks I think in a skincare regime. I definitely keep on top of moisturising but also regular exfoliation to avoid chapping and dry patches. Recently I have added double base gel as an additional protection against really dry patches on elbows , knees etc. as I sometimes develop mild eczema and this seems to be helping. And as always keep using the YGS serum x

@Bex yes, it has gotten considerably cooler here. I moisturize my skin, including my face all year round. I have the YGS serum on my holiday list.

@Bex we are in Oklahoma and every winter the body lotion comes out  I use an in shower lotion and philosophy lotion works

@Bex yes it has gotten colder here . As for skincare it usually is the same for me year round with thee exception of using more lotion and lip balm in the wintertime

I make sure to moisturize more. I also make sure to cover my skin, except of course feet, hands and face).

I find Olay moisturizer to work wonderfully.

My skin is generally dry all throughout the year.

My tip is to avoid direct contact with cold air because that really ends up drying my skin more than it already is.

Haven't asked anything.

@Bex Yes it is cold here in NY.  I just add more moisturizer, my hands, legs and lips get so dry in this weather.  My YGS lip balm is a lip saver, I make sure I do not run out in the winter time.

@Bex It's really cold in the Midlands (UK) and we are getting a bit of sleet today. I don'd do anything special to my skin in winter but I do use more lipbalm as my lips get chapped with the cold and wind. I just make sure I use a rich moisturiser and apply a bit more if I notice my skin going dry. At the moment I am trying out the new Cetaphil face creams and my skin looks and feels quite good. I am still using the YGS skin concentrate before I apply the moisturisers and I think that is making a positive difference.

@Bex I am really suffering with my lips as I have a heavy cold but have my new best lip balm . I have t changed anything other than no make up today and using my night cream during the day.

Maybe YGS should develop a creamy face mask ...

@Bex I don’t really do anything different but I do love the hot cloth cleanser in this weather, it so nice and thick, feels like my skin just soaks it up 😊

@Bex Let's start with the most important question! Yes, I have asked for skin care products-specifically YGS products- from my sisters for Christmas. I have never tried the hot cloth cleanser so I'd like that, along with my "go to" products-Refreshing Face Wash, Comforting Gel Cleanser, Exfoliating Wash. I got my elder sister Skin Balancing Concentrate for Christmas. It has been cold (relatively speaking!) in south Florida-68 today. Usually high 70's/low 80's this time of year. When we lived in the northeast I had problems with dry, itchy skin in the winter. Ran a humidifier constantly, and added an extra layer or moisturizer on my face and body. My face didn't get as itchy as my arms and legs, but my skin got very dry in the winter.

@kelceyryder Years ago I had a meeting with my boss during an especially cold winter day. The skin on my legs was unbearably itchy and to make matters worse I had on wool pants. I was trying to discreetly scratch my legs without my boss noticing, but after 10 minutes she looks at me and says "am I making you nervous?" and I had to explain what was going on. Fortunately she understood-actually had a tube of Lubriderm in her drawer and gave it to me to put on after the meeting

@Bex I am just south of Chicago and it's been quite cold already. I have had eczema so I am cautious and pay extra attention to my skin in winter. Aquaphor is a product I always have on hand. I use an oatmeal bar soap to wash my hands (I wash them a lot). This is by Yardley and i recommend it.

I do have skincare items on my Christmas wishlist. I'm asking for Soap & Glory body wash and creams. I am pretty well stocked on YGS.

@ReneeF I have that exact one at home, will start getting my daughter who gets eczema on her hands to use this.

@Shell5 I ordered one to use for the first time when they arrived and I know it is cold up there in New York.

@ReneeF I have never tried that one.  I do love their soaps.

@Bex In the winter my skin gets dryer but it doesn't affect the products I use. I still use the same products for my skin which is of course the YGS Concentrate and for the rest of my body I use Nivea Original Moisture with Vitamin E. Its my same routing all year around.

Thanks @kelceyryder My arms get the same! Which body moisturiser do you use?
