Weird sensations!

Hi Ladies! How are you?

I'm wondering whether you have ever tried any skincare products that have had weird sensations?

If so, which product was it?

What was the sensation like? e.g. cooling, warming, bubbling on the skin etc.

What did you think about it? Did you like it or dislike it?

Do you think the sensation means the skincare is working or do you think this doesn't matter?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this! 😊

Hi Bex! I’ve used warming clay masks. I’m not sure of the product name, but they come in single packets. I feel it’s like mouthwash, it doesn’t have to burn to work. 😊

@Puglove88 Ohh this sounds interesting! Did you like the sensation?

Yeah. It felt nice. The next time  out at the store, I’ll try to find it again.

Way back during my teen years, I used a product called “nixoderm”  for pimples and it has a tingling burning sensation and to us that meant it was working in killing the pimples...lol. We liked that about that product and the way it smells. I don’t know if the product is still available today and if it is I’m sure it won’t have that tingling burning feel to it anymore...

That’s the product and I think it’s still available....

I don’t remember one that claimed any specific sensation but i have use some that remind me cooling or like warm. For example a Healing clay mask , it’s suppose to be pure clay but when you wash it you fell little burning sensation. I also remember when i use to have facials a gel that was really cold and other that you felt like your skin was tight  None of them bother me but i can also certainly said that the sensation means was working in a better way at least no remember that the products claim an specific benefit of the sentation.

And of course i will try new benefits if a brand have a release that can help me.

@Bex does Ben Gay count? lol  Other than that no 😊

@flojo LOL!! Yep, that one is a STRANGE sensation.

For sure 😉

Thanks @Bibicool 😊 Why do you think it wouldn't have the tingling/burning feeling anymore?

Hi @Bex Yes I've tried a few face and eye masks that have a cooling sensation and I really like it. It feels nice and really relaxes you.  I do think it means the product is working when you feel a sensation...sometimes I'll be wearing a face mask and I might feel a slight tingly, burning sensation and wonder if I should remove it, but then I think to myself that's just the product working.

Thanks so much @monica.ellis What is about these types of sensations that make you think the product is working better?

@Bex I am not sure...the quality may have dropped.

@Bex As a teenager I remember using Noxzema to wash my face! It feels really cool as it goes on your face but has a really strong minty smell! I guess I was feeling nostalgic one day as I bought a jar and brought it home! Still love the cool feeling on my face—but still don’t like the smell!

Thanks @kelceyryder 😊 What do you think it is about the cool sensation that you like?

@Bex I haven't used anything with any weird sensations lately. Like @kelceyryder I also used Noxema. I think most teenagers did at some point. I liked the cooling feeling, and the smell. I also remember using a Sea Breeze astringent. That kinda had a tingling feeling that made me think it was really pulling away excess dirt. (Obviously it doesn't need to sting because my YGS doesn't.) I'm not sure if weird sensations mean the product is working or not, but they can be pleasant side effects.

@Bex It feels like it's cleaning because it's just a different sensation that anything else I have ever put on my face. And it's so cool when it's hot out. It seems to lather up pretty well when water is added and it rinses off well and that's when you really feel the clean.

@ReneeF I used that Sea Breeze astringent too and another one. Always felt like it just cleaned out those pores and closed them right up. But they were very tingly.

Thanks @ReneeF 😊 What did you like about the cooling feeling?

@Bex During my teenage years,  I used Noxzema medicated pads to help quickly clear up acne. I love the tingling sensation on my skin. I felt confident that the product was really working to tackle the pimples. 😊There was nothing to dislike. The pads didn't dry out my skin. I always used a moisturizer afterwards. I was unable to locate an image online of the exact packaging with the words "medicated" on front label. I think the company replaced the words using "anti - blemish." as an updated version. Here is a similar image.

@Bex I remember, way back, that Blistex used to burn my lips sort of, but it made me think that it was dissolving away all the dry skin on my lips to reveal new, soft, smooth lips so I didn't mind it.  I use shampoo with tea tree oil, peppermint and lavender in it, so it gives my scalp this cooling and tingling sensation that I really like.  It is supposed to be stimulating my scalp to grow new hair, so I hope that is working!  And I cannot remember the name of the product, but I did once try a warming clay mask.  I don't remember hating it, but I also don't remember liking it enough to seek anything similar out again.

the one of tights sensations made me think was great for wrinkles 😬. In other hand the warm/ tight of the clay mask makes me thing is taking off all impurities from inside out

@Bex Prior to using the YGS products,I used to utilize “Phisoderm” skin cleanser every day for the past 15 years;religiously. It was so very effective in that it cleaned deeply, with no additional rinsing necessary as its’ formula left nothing to chance. Yet it wasn’t so much a sensory perception I got but more of a visual gratification that excited me when I noticed my face actually turns a lighter shade/tone as if my face were filthy! But it wasn’t. And it was my visualization that excited me. Hence, the saying,”seeing is believing “.is where the senses kick in for me.

@Bex I have to really think about this I cannot remember.😊

I have used this when I was in school, it was cool to the touch.

@Bex I like the cooling feeling because it's like a refreshing wake up on you skin.

@Bex like many of the other ladies I've also tried the Noxzema in my teenage years. I liked the cooling sensation was nice feeling. Last year I tried the clean and clear morning burst it's like a wake up call for your face! My skin was refreshed and not dry😊

I tried a product with a warming sensation and it didn't feel good to me.  I was expecting a feeling similar to a heating pad, but this was an odd tingle that reminded me of a bad reaction.

Thanks @Bonita 😊 What did you like about the tingling sensation?

@Bex  You're welcome! The tingling sensation felt good on my skin. It was not too strong. 🙂

@Bibicool I've never heard of this product. Its very unique.

@Sai  I've tried a mask with a cooling sensation, but I can't recall the name of it.

@Bex Whenever I have a stiff neck or a back pain I love my IcyHot Medicated Applicator. It work well with me but I hate the strong minty smell it leaves on my skin and clothes.

@Mim They now have the unscented and medicated version of IcyHot,sweety. But you are so right in saying that this stuff works effectively. And back then, who cared if it smelled mediciny,or was greasy. And we used it whilst we were at home;mostly. 😉

@Sagittarius Really? I'm going to see if I can find it by my house. Thanks

@Mim Oh no... I'm sorry,Mim, i was thinking of the Bengay pain reliever that has a new vanishing scent formula;not Icyhot. I just now checked my cabinet, thinking it was Icy hot. God's speed,Mim
